Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DE&I) and Talent Attraction

37% of Thai workers move jobs within 2 years and 17% are gone within the first year.

Gen Z (born 1997-2012) change job every two years and Gen Y (born 1981-96) even faster. But job hopping, while socially accepted, costs organizations their investment in human resource development. Company can waste 6-9 months finding replacements.

Job seekers and corporations are becoming less loyal to each other. Salary renewal has become even more intense. Benefit ladders have become a tactic for companies to persuade employees to stay longer for more benefits. HR teams are looking beyond money and welfare to attract talent.

An interesting response is diverse corporate culture. 69% of Thai workers in Thailand said they would accept a lower salary for work-life balance. DE&I values are no longer niche but more important global values.

On average, 61% of applicants of all ages will ask HR about these policies during a job interview. 33% of applicants will reject a company without policy to focus on diversity and inclusion. Senior corporate leaders must demonstrate a sincere appreciation for diversity. Employee feedback should enhance regulations. Organizations should screen employee attitudes before they join the workforce. Welfare policies and systematic corporate strategies as Foodpanda, for example, include sanitary napkins for employees. Gojek is developing applications to support vision and hearing and the work of people with disabilities.

Implications for the future:

- Empathetic communication skills will become a must-have skill for employees at all levels.

- Diversity issues for equality and inclusion will become part of business strategy and indicators of employees and business commitment.

- Bringing the concept of inclusion into business ideas to solve social problems will help raise the domestic economy when more labor can be drawn into the economy.
