Gen Y เจเนอเรชันแห่งการรักษาสุขภาพ

Gen Y are referred to as "The Wellness Generation" but with a workload that almost engulfs their lives, how will Gen Y take care of themselves? Let's find out.

"Eat for wellness and be healthy"

A survey found that Gen Y are more concerned with healthy eating than other generations. According to the Organic Goods Trade Association, 52% of their customers are Gen Y, and the vegetable shopping rate is even higher than that of any other generation.

.

They not only care about quality raw materials but they also realize that eating out makes it difficult to check health aspects such as the use of fat, sugar, or excess flavoring. So most of them choose to become home cooks. In addition to staying healthy they have fun trying out or inventing recipes. They also enjoy persuading their friends or family to cook and eat together at home more rather than at restaurants.

.

"Let nature heal your health"

Although many see Gen Y as a modern, progressive generation a survey found that they are more accepting of alternative medicine. More than 40% use treatments like herbal medicines, nature therapy, or traditional medicine.

.

Popular trends include treating office syndrome with acupuncture, cupping, or bone alignment. This is a new alternative treatment approach that has recently gained popularity. Meditation therapy exercises can treat mental problems from stress, depression, or anxiety.

.

Supplements are also an option that this generation has been using to get good nutrition. It was also reported that 68% also use supplements for weight loss.

.

"Work hard with almost no time to see a doctor"

And as mentioned already, Gen Y have quite chaotic lifestyles and spend most of their time at work, with over 73% spending more than 40 hours per week working.

.

Over 26% of Gen Y worldwide work two or more jobs to earn more to enable their lifestyle and achieve financial stability. They spend their day at work or commuting and have little time for their personal lives. It is rare to see this generation going straight to the doctor when they have a medical problem.

.

But advanced technology has come to their aid. Many hospitals and medical institutions have started to offer Telehealth services or online consultations, responding to the behavior of busy Gen Y people.

.

"Little time, but more healthcare"

No matter how busy and hectic their days are, Gen Y never neglect healthcare. We can therefore see that there are currently healthcare apps to measure heart rate or blood oxygen, calculate menstrual cycle or even give reminders to drink water, stand up, or take a walk to avoid sitting for too long. These functions are almost becoming a basic element of the smartphone or smart watch everyone uses in their daily life.
